Nightly Runway 13/31 Closures due to Rehabilitation

Post by Admin on Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:40 am

Starting soon, and through the end of this year, a runway rehabilitation project will be performed, closing Runway 13/31 for re-paving and installation of centerline lighting. Pay close attention to NOTAMs, and be prepared to use 02/20 or 06/24 when arriving at KSGJ at night.

Rehabilitation of Runway 13/31 - this nearly $10 million effort will provide for a concrete overlay of the airport's primary 8,000 runway. Rehabilitation efforts will result in long-term benefits to the community and will minimize delays and service interuptions related to maintenance.

From Airport Executive Director Edward R. Wuellner:

Point of Clarification – The project includes an Asphalt Overlay, new edge and centerline lighting, 25’ paved shoulders, blast pads on each runway end. The total project cost is approximately $5.5 million of which FAA and FDOT cover 97.5% of the cost.

CLOSURE INFORMATION will be available via NOTAM, www.flynf.com (go to the GA User pages for details and other info) or at the FBO. Work should begin, meaning daily overnight closures of Runway 13/31 beginning within the next week, so plan accordingly. We expect the project to be completed by the first of the year.
