Oshkosh Airventure 2011

Post by Radar on Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:04 pm

Oshkosh starts Monday, July 25 with REO Speedwagon. Tuesday features a tribute to Bob Hoover. July 27 is the Salute to Naval Aviation, celebrating the hundredth anniversary this year. Thursday is a Tribute to Burt Rutan. Gary Sinise and Lt. Dan Band perform on Friday. Saturday evening there's an Aaron Tippin concert, night air show, fireworks, and "Wall of Fire". Sunday, July 31 is the military scramble (departure of warbirds), and the finale' three hour afternoon air show.
Debbie and I are going Friday morning via AirTran. Anyone else?

Getting a sunburn at latitude 44 North is a different kind of experience. The Dreamliner from Boeing is huge, and there are many rare planes here at Airventure Oshkosh. So many warbird flyovers yesterday that it was unbelievable, finishing with Fifi, the only flying example of a B-29, the departure of the Boeing 787, and a pass by the Heavy Metal Jet Team.
